Dear Director:
My name is Annette Thompson and I am the President of Precious in HIS Sight. I'm writing to offer my help in finding adoptive families for your children awaiting international adoption. My husband and I are former foster parents and I am a computer network administrator by profession. I am using my knowledge of computers to create a monthly photolisting of children on the Internet, the world-wide computer network also known as the Information Superhighway.
I'm doing this because I love children and feel that God has called me to this ministry in order to help find adoptive families for the thousands of children waiting in other countries. I am not affiliated with any adoption agency and all state licensed U.S. adoption agencies with international programs are invited to participate. I have chosen not to focus on domestic adoption because the National Adoption Center and Tracy Ivory with AASK are each working toward online domestic photolistings.
There are currently 25 million people world-wide on the Internet, and that number is doubling each year (Time, July 25, 1994). An area of the Internet called the World-Wide Web (the Web) is where the Precious in HIS Sight - Internet Adoption Photolisting will be. At least two-thirds of Web users are able to graphically browse its contents which means that they will be able to see your children's pictures and profiles with your agency's name, address, and phone number as they look through the listings. Also, readers will be able to search for children by several different criteria.
You do not need to know anything about computers in order to have your children listed and can simply send me descriptions of the children and their photos. I will scan them into my computer and mail them back to you. However, if you would like to explore the Internet, I'd be happy to help you get on.
There will be no charge for Internet users to view the children's listings. Also, I plan to offer this service for free to agencies for the first three months. However, after the photolisting has been going for several months I will charge agencies $4/child/month in order to help cover my expenses (unless I find a corporate sponsor). I'd like to start off the photolisting with as many children as possible in order to attract a lot of attention on the Internet, so I hope that you will choose to participate now.
So, how do you get started? Please call, write, fax, or e-mail me with any questions you have. I have 2 more pages of information to fax or mail to you with everything you need to know to begin. I'm normally home and available from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Central time on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends. My voice number is (817)848-5623 and I have an answering machine. My fax/modem number is (817)848-5716. My address is 736 Quail Hollow Lane, Waco, Texas, 76712. My e-mail address is annette@precious.org and I check my e-mail at least twice a day. Also, I am very open to suggestions about this project and welcome your input!
Please give serious consideration to this program. There are no hidden fees and I have no hidden agenda. If you need adoptive parents, this is a great way to attract them. At the same time, you'll be getting the word out that international adoption is a wonderful opportunity and that parents really are needed for the thousands of children waiting for them. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Annette Thompson
