About the Internet Adoption Photolisting
by Precious in HIS Sight

Precious in HIS Sight was started by me, Annette Thompson, out of my home. I wanted to do something with my computer skills to help find homes for children needing families. My husband and I used to be foster parents and we have 2 children that we've adopted domestically out of the foster care system. I'm in the process of incorporating Precious in HIS Sight and seeking non-profit status. I've been preparing for this photolisting since early September, 1994. It opened to the public on December 19, 1994. It was the first adoption photolisting on the internet.

Four adoption agencies provided me with a lot of advice in deciding how to start this photolisting and preparing the mailing I sent to all the international adoption agencies in the US: Lois Paul with Help the Children, Margi Miller with Children's Home Society of Minnesota, Barry Stater-West with Holt International Children's Services, and Tomilee Harding with Christian World Adoption. Also, Mary Ehart with the National Adoption Center was very encouraging, proofed my mailings and let me view their domestic adoption dial-in database. Finally, AnnaMarie Merrill, who operates the International Concerns Committee for Children, gave me lots of advice since she already publishes a paper photolisting of children awaiting international adoption and the Report on Foreign Adoption.
